Fundraiser Shirts for "V" - OFFER CLOSED - Thanks for your Support!

As part of the same hosting program we were involved with, our brother and sister-in-law fell in love with a very special teenage boy from Ukraine.  They knew immediately that they would do anything possible to make "V" a part of the family!  As they continued getting to know him, they learned V has an older brother.  Faced with a BIG decision, we all prayed for answers about big brother "I".  We now have the beautiful opportunity to help bring BOTH brothers home for Christmas with the hope of FOREVER!  Forever is an AMAZING word, y'all!!!  Just look at this PRECIOUS face!!!

Just Keep Swimming...swimming...swimming!

I personally know the life changing power of one little soul...but I'm always AMAZED by the way one child can touch so MANY lives in such a short time! It's SO beautiful to witness!

As incredible as the children are (especially MINE! heehee!) they do not come without heavy trauma, deep grieving, and endless obstacles to overcome. I think most people see the children being *rescued* and suddenly living a blessed, beautiful life, that all is now well and normal. But behind closed doors is a monumental battle. Everything the child knew about life and survival has just been turned upside down. They haven't learned to trust or love strangers yet and when they finally DO learn, they start dealing with past trauma and grieving which starts a whole new kind of uphill battle for MANY many years to come. Even with new babies, many experience trauma in the womb, and just after. They know fear, anxiety, hunger, substance abuse before their first breath, they feel abandonment, they hear domestic violence...and they remember...forever.

If you see me one day, sobbing in the church bathroom, and it scares you to death because everything *seemed* ok, just give a hug...it goes a LONG way...it's likely that we're just overly tired emotionally and physically. Most of the time parents (and kids!) just need that quiet release, a comforting hug, and we are good to go for a another couple of months.

Please continue to be in prayer for us and all of the many adoptive families we know. I know we can't *save* them all, but when the Lord places a precious child in our laps, the least we can do is fight to the death for them. Where would we be if one little baby Moses hadn't been singled out and adopted while countless more were killed?

"Home" for the Christmas Holiday!

We had the amazing opportunity to host this young girl from the Ukraine for 6 weeks during the summer, and it was such an amazing experience.  Miss "J" is completely blind, but she is far from what you might consider handicapped.

All of us learned a lot from the experience and we have decided to host her again over the Christmas holidays..  It will be so exciting to see her open her presents and enjoy all the wonderful holiday foods!

It's been hard for us to come to the realization of just how much we love "J", and how much she has so richly blessed our lives in just the short time we've known her.  We were not "looking" to be involved in another older child adoption, but sometimes God just moves your heart in directions you never knew you wanted (or didn't want to) go...

Please pray for our family and for "J" during this time as we seek Gods will in regards to her future.  Coming up with the funds for hosting is going to be a little difficult this time around, so if you feel led to donate to help bring her back "Home" to Texas, please consider using the donate button to the right.  Any amount you can donate is so greatly appreciated!

The VERY good news is that we've received word that a generous donor who does not wish to be identified will be matching donations up to $1000 from today on!!!  God is so very good and has already blessed us with so many blessings.  From the bottom of our hearts..  Thank you!

Thanks again for your continued prayers and comments (mostly from Facebook) about Miss "J" and we hope to hear from you all soon!

Matthew

"J's" American Adventure!

Daring the Soul...

Several years ago on my very first Fathers Day, Henok and Mom gave me a small engraved stone plaque that says "FAITH is Daring the Soul to go beyond what the Eye can see..."  I really loved that gift because it really exemplified how I felt during the entire process of adopting our first son Henok.

I was so blinded by my own doubt and questions that I couldn't see what was really happening... and then I finally allowed myself to become obedient to God's will and got out of the way and watched my Faith grow and we were blessed with the most amazing gift we had ever received.  If you ever have some time and want to to take a look at Henok's blog:  http://henokmoak.blogspot.com

Anyway, in order to preserve Henok's blog, I decided to open a new blog to chronicle our new Adventure.  Thank you for visiting and I hope you enjoy!
